  • August 1, 2016 - Barabra Black gets emotional and begins to cry as she moves into her new home with her grandson Chauncy Black. She recounted how her grandson would pick the lock to her room in their former home that lacked furniture and had only one malfunctioning window unit air conditioner for the whole house when he would hear her crying.   • June 21, 2016 - Sue Burns, 87, is congratulated by Annie Green, 103, for her win after the two competed in the over-65 wheelchair race during the annual Nursing Home Olympics hosted by the Tennessee Health Care Association at Bellevue Baptist Church.   • March 31, 2016 - Farice and Antandra Campbell, from Murphysboro, Ill. get emotional as they stand outside the National Civil Rights Museum and look up to the balcony where Martin Luther King Jr. was struck down by an assassin's bullet on April 4, 1968. On the 48th anniversary of his death this Monday the museum will hold a commemoration starting at 4:30 that will include remarks from Rev.   • April 24, 2016 - A woman stands of the porch of a home in the 2800 block of Barron in Orange Mound as heavy smoke pours out of the front door and flames were visible in the back of the house while waiting for fire fighters to arrive.   • July 12, 2016 - Protesters with the Black Lives Matter movement  argue with police to let them walk down the sidewalk during a rally outside Graceland on Elvis Presley Blvd Tuesday afternoon. Roughly 60-70 people gathered peacefully outside the gates of the famous tourist destination.   • January 24, 2016 - Xanden Hanners, 6, can't hide his trepidation as he comes face-to-face with Bama-Cakes, a 45 pound, ten and half-foot-long, three-year-old, female Burmese Python, during Repticon Memphis at the Landers Center in Southaven.   • February 25, 2016 - Chantalia Wray, 14, (left) and Xia Gilbsy, 15, dance with other members of the Stax Music Academy during a performance of {quote}Peace, Love and Soulsville!: Memphis to Motown{quote} at Minglewood Hall in celebration of Black History Month on Thursday. Roughly 1000 students from area school attended the show that highlighted the history and hits of Motown and Stax.   • April 7, 2016 - Lori Pound, 11, reacts with joy as she and the rest of her fifth grade class at Farmington Elementary during a scavenger hunt through the halls during Autism Awareness Week at the school. Pound has been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder. The school has an above average number of student with autism and held an awareness week not only to inform students about the disorder but also to honor the students who have it.   • May 30, 2016 - Retired Army Col. Darwin Concon pours out a beer on the grave of his best friend he enlisted into the Army with in August 1978.   • June 6, 2016 - Welder Joe Walker puts finishing welds on a massive sculpture designed by local artists Colin Kidder and fabricated by Youngblood Studio being installed on the Wolf River Greenway along Humphreys Boulevard. The massive sculpture that is roughly two-years in the making is designed to make users of the Greenway feel like they are moving under water as they pass under the sculpture. Attorneys for the family of Darrius Stewart announced they have filed a $17 million wrongful death lawsuit against former police director Toney Armstrong and former MPD officer Connor Schilling and the City of Memphis.   • November 8, 2015 - Mozart the chihuahua sits in the basket of a Vespa scooter after competing in a lip synching contest with owner Pam Mackey during the 12th annual Harbor Town dog show. Pets and their owners competed in a variety of events including least obedient, most glamorous, best rescue dog, best costume, tail wagging, best trick and best float along with silent auctions with all proceeds from the event benefitting the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County.
